An old Hibiscus syriacus

This page illustrates a very old Hibiscus syriacus that carries both double and single flowers.

This plant was already here when we moved in, in 1991.

We suspect that it either two plants that were planted very closely together, or one plant was planted but it has produced some shoots from the rootstock below the graft. Whatever the reason, it is a great talking point, such as: "Which is the rootstock and which is the graft?"

The table below shows the plant ant two close-up photos of the flowers. The double flower looks like 'Comte de Flandres', and the single like 'Woodbridge'.
